It's an E36.
I may or may not have been cautiously staring at my temp gauge the whole way to school, because German.
I guess should actually check that coolant level, huh?
Disclaimer: My water pump is leaking and we are going to be replacing it soon. I knew this was eventually going to happen.

If you were really living #Germancarlife, half of those pixels would be distorted to the point where you couldn't even read that message.

You have no idea how surprised I was that all the pixels on that and the gauge cluster worked perfectly. I'd honestly say it was a selling point.

Wait 8-hours before doing so. I can talk you through it then.

make sure the system is bled correctly first before you check the level. Jack that front end up in the air or go find a hill, crack the screw till it runs clear, then see what you are left with. Notorious on e34/36

If it were being very German, it would say, "CHECK COOLANT LEVEL NOW!"

There's not that much room on the screen tho. I'm sure it would say now if it had the room.

Don't drive it until you fix the water pump.
Serious. A friend of mine with an E46 had a similar issue and her car started smoking.

At least it is letting you know instead of just chilling until something overheats.

This is very true.

I appreciate most warning lights. Ever since my Old Beretta had a giant misfire and ended up running on 3 cylinders all the way home and still no check engine light.

I'm jealous. My '92 & '94 had/have perfectly working 18 button OBC's. The 11 button in my '99 isn't so lucky.

Hey, my Audi does that!
Also, if you are living #Germancarlife, you've also bypassed the sensors so that they don't beep at you anymore.
I've done that with coolant level and brake wear.

Haha, I apparently have the only B5 in existence with a working lcd display.

No joke man, haha.
If I sold my B5, I'd make sure to put "working LCD display" in the description.

I've had that exact same message on mine for a few months. I checked coolant level - it was a tiny bit low, but surely not low enough to make the sensor freak out. Car doesn't run hot. Heater only works when I'm on the move. From reading forums I suspect air in the system, been meaning to flush it.
